On the sidelines of the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, a symposium on the right of peoples to self-determination was held on Friday the 22nd September 2017.
At the symposium the Southern group representatives presented a paper in which it affirmed that the Southern people have the right to self determination according to the charter of the United Nations which was signed by the Yemen Arab Republic and the Peoples Democratic Republic of Yemen in May 1990.
The paper was submitted to the symposium by the human rights activist Hind Omairan , in which she urged the United Nations and all it's member countries to stand by and support the Southern people's right to self-determination and build their own future modern state .
It's worth mentioning that the symposium witnessed an active presence of representatives from countries demanding their right to self determination and representatives of human rights organizations from around the world.
