Major General Bin Brik Receives Delegation of Chieftains Dignitaries and Notables of al-Awamir Tribes in Hadramout

Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Saturday, in the city of Al-Mukalla, with a delegation of chieftains, dignitaries, and notables of al- Awamir tribes in Hadramout.

In the meeting, which was attended by a member of the STC's Presidium, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, Major General Bin Brik warmly welcomed the delegation of dignitaries and notables of al-awamir tribes, praising their roles that have been proven both in ancient and modern history and the positions of their men and youth towards the interests of Hadramout and the South, affirming the status of al-awamir tribes and its future role in building the aspired state of the South.

During the meeting, Major General Bin Brik gave a satisfied explanation of what the STC had accomplished in the past period, at the forefront of which is the southern national dialogue and the results of the consultative meeting of the southern components, leading to the signing of the National Charter, which represents a draft constitution that defines the features of the future state of the South.

In the meeting, Major General Bin Brik stated: "We sent our sincere call at an early period to all the people of the South to be with us in a real partnership to build the South and settle the disparities," reviewing in the same context the history of the South that witnessed certain events that the STC worked to overcome by prioritizing peaceful dialogue over violence.

The Vice President of the STC confirmed that the assembly, in its sixth session, had renewed the call for all southerners to return to the homeland, to contribute to construction and development, and to participate in decision-making.

The meeting reviewed a range of topics and issues related to southern affairs, especially in Hadramout, in addition to suffering from a shortage in public services, most notably electricity, and the continued plundering of resources, stressing that Hadramout has the right to get the well-deserved economic, cultural, historical, and political status.

The tribal dignitaries and notables of the al-Awamir tribes congratulated the Vice President of the STC on the grand success of convening the sixth session of the National Assembly in the city of Al-Mukalla, affirming the support of the STC in achieving the aspirations of the people of the South in general and in particular Hadhramaut, starting with transferring the forces of the first military division and empowering the people of Hadramout to manage the affairs of land and institutions.
