President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received on Wednesday evening a delegation from the people of Al-Mahrah and Socotra governorates, led by Sultan Abdullah bin Isa bin Afrar, a member of the STC Presidium and Chairman of the General Council for the People of Al-Mahrah and Socotra Governorates, along with Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Socotri, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by the delegation on the overall situation in Al-Mahrah and Socotra governorates, following the "Promising Future" military operation, which resulted in the Southern Armed Forces extending their control over Hadramaut Valley and Al-Mahrah and cutting off supply lines for weapons and drugs to the Houthi militia and terrorist organisations.
The President also listened to an explanation of the efforts being made to normalise conditions, consolidate the pillars of security and stability, and enhance the presence of state institutions to contribute to improving the living conditions and public services for citizens in the two governorates.
The President reiterated his support and backing for the people of Al-Mahrah and Socotra and for empowering them to manage the local affairs of their own governorates and reaffirmed the commitment of the leadership of the South to achieve the aspirations of the people of the South for security, stability, and development.
In turn, the delegation from the people of Al-Mahrah and Socotra expressed their full standing behind President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and their support for the demands of the people of the South, foremost among them the declaration of a Federal State of South Arabia based on foundations of justice and equality.
