The Southern National Dialogue Team (SNDT) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), headed by Mr. Abdulsalam Qassem Mud, head of the team, met today, Thursday, with the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy in the capital, Aden, Mr. Albert Scott, in the presence of Ms. Tamna Ahmed Obeid, head of the political section.
During the meeting, the team outlined the nature of its tasks and work plans, affirming its commitment to promoting Southern dialogue and engaging with all forces and components of the South without exception, and expressed its welcome for the participation of all political forces not present at the first consultative meeting in the upcoming dialogues currently being prepared.
The SNDT highlighted its full readiness to jointly work with the UN envoy's office, noting that the STC is working to consolidate security and stability and ensure the protection of human rights and public freedoms.
The meeting also touched on the most prominent challenges facing the national scene in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, particularly the worsening economic and service conditions, underscoring the crucial role of the United Nations and the Office of the UN Envoy in supporting efforts to address and stabilize the situation.
For his part, Mr. Bert Scott expressed the readiness of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to provide support and assistance for the success of any upcoming dialogues, lauded the progress achieved during the various phases of the Southern National Dialogue, and conveyed his interest in the steps taken following the consultative meeting, especially the openness to all Southern political forces.
