The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.
The Presidium began its meeting by commemorating the eighth anniversary of the historic Aden Declaration on May 4, 2017, which was a defining moment in the march of the Southern Revolution and reaffirmed the sterling will and resolve of the people of the South to restore their state and realize their legitimate aspirations, expressing its pride in the achievements made since that declaration, at the forefront of which was the founding of the STC on May 11 of the same year, as a political and national representative championing the just cause of the people of the South.
On this occasion, the Presidium extended its congratulations to President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC, renewing the firm pledge and loyalty to supporting his wise-led steps until the realization of the goals of the people of the South in liberation, independence, and building their fully sovereign state across all their entire national soil.
The Presidium then listened to a comprehensive briefing by the political team on the latest political developments in both the local and regional arenas, the recent developments in the military and security landscape amid ongoing changes taking place in the region, and the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the STC at the Arab and international levels to strengthen the presence of the cause of the people of the South on the global stage—including the recent opening of the STC’s mission in Washington, DC.
Furthermore, the Presidium discussed a range of issues related to the humanitarian conditions experienced by the people of the South in various governorates amidst the economic crisis, the continuous decline in the currency exchange rate, and the repercussions of this on citizens' livelihoods. In this context, the Presidium commended the dedicated efforts that have been exerted by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi in following up on service and living files, particularly the electricity crisis plaguing the capital, Aden, and the rest of the governorates of the South with the onset of summer, and lauded his tireless work in maintaining ongoing communication with the brethren in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to secure new power infrastructure projects, which contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens and achieving stability in this vital sector.
The Presidium also expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation for the fraternal role and generous support provided by the UAE to our people, which includes various humanitarian, service, and developmental fields, affirming that this unwavering support reflects the depth of historic relations and shared destiny with the brotherly UAE.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen national cohesiveness and rapprochement across the South, upholding deeply rooted national fundamentals, and maintaining constant readiness to navigate political shifts while steadfastly advancing the cause of the South and the rights of its people.
