The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its weekly meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.
In the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Issam Abdo Ali, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri congratulated the people of the South from Almahra to Bab al-Mandab Strait, underscoring that this people have proven that they do not accept failure, that they are up to the challenge, and that they were able to make the glorious October 14th anniversary a unique event, at the level of all governorates of the South, to prove that their cause will remain alive, despite all the conspiracies being hatched against it.
In its meeting, the administrative body commended the grand success of the million-person celebrative event, themed "Identity of the South," hosted by the city of Seiyun in the Hadhramaut Valley. The event conveyed significant messages to the region and the world, foremost of which is that the proud people of the South will not relinquish their right to restore their fully sovereign state.
In a related context, the body has commended the political efforts of the STC's leadership at both the domestic and international levels, as it can be evidenced by hosting a number of international delegations to discuss arrangements for reopening their embassies in the capital, Aden, reflecting the clear security and stability enjoyed by the capital and the rest of the governorates of the South.
The body reviewed a report submitted by the Services Committee outlining the state of the service sector in the South and the numerous obstacles and challenges facing this sector. The report also included a number of recommendations and proposals to overcome these challenges.
The body also listened to a report from the Economy and Development Committee, tasked with monitoring the rapid rise in prices of basic food items, including fruits and vegetables, its causes, and possible solutions to help stabilize prices.
At the end of its meeting, the body emphasized the need to focus on agriculture and revive production operations in the deltas of Abyan, Lahj, and Hadhramaut Valley to achieve self-sufficiency in basic agricultural products and ensure their availability at affordable prices for all segments of Southern society.
