The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC's ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.
The Presidium began its meeting by discussing reports submitted by relevant bodies on the influx of displaced persons from North Yemen to the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South, reviewing the implications of reopening roads and border crossings between liberated North governorates and those under Houthi control, and their repercussions on the capital, Aden, and the South in general.
In this regard, the Presidium has reiterated its categorical rejection of any attempts to resettle displaced persons from the North in the South, urging the government to assume its responsibilities and prioritize their return to safe areas, calling for coordination with relevant international organizations to facilitate this process.
Concluding its discussion on the issue of displaced persons, the Presidium formed a special committee to draw conclusions from the reports at the center of this subject and submit them to the President of the STC for corporating appropriate action.
Furthermore, the Presidium condemned the Houthis' escalating violence on the fronts of Lahj and Al-Dhale'a governorates and highlighted that this escalation is a reaction to the Southern Security Forces' success in dismantling Houthi cells and thwarting their malicious plots to destabilize security from within.
The Presidium has made it clear that any escalation attempts would be doomed to failure, and the terrorist Houthi militia will face crushing defeats at the hands of our valiant Southern Armed Forces and Security Services, who have inflicted frequent defeats upon them, commending the heroic epics of our forces on the frontlines as they continue to thwart the militia’s desperate attempts in various fronts of the South during the past few days.
In another context, the Presidium has voiced its unequivocal support for the decisions made by the Security Committee of the capital, Aden, regarding recent acts of sabotage against essential services and random shootings in the city's districts, calling upon government bodies, military forces, security services, and the general public to cooperate with Aden's security services in implementing the outlined measures. It has further stressed the imperative of strictly enforcing the stipulated penalties and has urged security committees in the rest of the governorates of the South to issue and implement similar sound decisions, as these measures are deemed crucial for solidifying the foundations of security and stability and deterring saboteurs.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium touched on a range of organizational topics and issues related to the work of the central and local bodies of the STC and took the appropriate measures.
