President Al-Zubaidi meets with the Special Envoy of Kingdom of Sweden and ambassadors of European Union

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, met on Sunday, in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, the Special Envoy of the Kingdom of Sweden, Ambassador Peter Simnby, Head of the EU Delegation to Yemen, Ambassador Hans Grundberg, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Henrik Landholm, Head of the Political Affairs, Press and Information Section and Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Yemen, Mr. Ricardo Vela.

President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, said in the meeting that the Riyadh agreement is a historic achievement that will move the south to an advanced stage of political and administrative work, stressing that the humanitarian, developmental, and services files are on top of the Transitional Council's priorities in the next phase.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political arena after the Riyadh agreement, which was sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the opportunity that this agreement formed to be a real breakthrough towards a comprehensive peace process, as well as ways of coordination and cooperation between the European Union countries and the Southern Transitional Council to promote peace and stability in our country.

The meeting also discussed the humanitarian and development file, stressing on the need to create all the necessary facilities to address the humanitarian situation in both the south and the north, and activate the role of government institutions and combat corruption, so that the European Union and the sponsoring countries could implement their relief, humanitarian, and development programs.

The meeting commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia for peace, as well as the efforts of the United Nations, led by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, Mr. Martin Griffiths to reach a final peaceful resolution to the crisis in the country.

The envoy and the ambassadors of the European Union countries expressed their great pleasure in meeting with the President Al-Zubaidi, stressing their support for peace and the peaceful steps being performed by the Southern Transitional Council.
