President Al-Zubaidi Emphasizes Routine Road Network Maintenance

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Tuesday with the Chairman of the Board of the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund (RBMF), Eng. Hussein Awad al-Aqrabi.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by Eng. al-Aqrabi on the RBMF’s ongoing work and its performance in implementing projects to maintain the inter-governorate road network, as well as projects carried out by the fund through the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges to rehabilitate inner-city streets in the capital, Aden.

President Al-Zubaidi emphasized the need to intensify periodic maintenance across the road network and to implement maintenance projects in line with approved technical standards to ensure the sustainability of roads and preserve their operational efficiency to facilitate transport across governorates, boost economic activity, and serve citizens.

The president underlined the vital importance of roads as the backbone of the economy and a key pillar of comprehensive development, given their central role in easing transport and trade and linking governorates together.

For his part, Eng. al-Aqrabi reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to improving performance and strengthening coordination with relevant bodies, foremost among them the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, to deliver projects to a high standard and within set timeframes as an essential factor in promoting service stability and comprehensive development.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Imad Mohammed, Office Director of the Vice Chairman of the PLC.
