President Al-Zubaidi within PLC Delegation Meets with German FM and UN Humanitarian Chief

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met with the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, Dr. Johann David Wadephul, within a delegation led by the PLC Chairman, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting discussed the ongoing Houthi threats to international peace and security, which are explicitly backed by the Iranian regime, including frequent attacks on international shipping lanes, the growing collaboration between the Houthi militia and other terrorist organizations, and the increasing risks posed by the continuous flow of Iranian weapons to terrorist groups.

Minister Wadephul reiterated his government's support for the economic reforms led by the government, announcing an increase in German support for our people, and signalling Germany's readiness to step up and expand cooperation programs at all levels.

In a separate meeting, President Al-Zubaidi, along with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi and PLC member Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, discussed with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mr. Tom Fletcher, the humanitarian interventions and emergency relief operations led by UN agencies in the country and their coordinated efforts with the international community to mobilize the necessary funding for the Humanitarian Response Plan amid rising levels of food insecurity due to dwindling international funding and the practices of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia.

The meeting also reviewed the Houthis' systematic campaign of abductions targeting dozens of civil society members, diplomats, and UN staff, as well as the storming of UN premises and the seizure of its properties, in addition to the ongoing threats to the humanitarian, relief, and development work in areas controlled by the terrorist militia.
