The head of the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shibam district, Hadramaut governorate, Ali Qassem bin Talib, and a representative of the UAE Red Crescent, Eng. Alawi Abdullah Al-Aidaroos, on Friday surveyed the damage to homes in the district caused by the recent monsoon.
During the field visit, bin Talib and Al-Aidaroos inspected several residences that were directly affected by heavy rains that hit the Valley and Desert districts over the past two days; due to severe monsoons, significant damage was caused to houses and infrastructure.
Bin Talib reaffirmed the Council's support for affected citizens, pledging to document all damages and report them to the STC leadership, and praised the prominent role of the UAE Red Crescent in supporting the people of the district and its commitment to rapid intervention to address the damage and provide assistance.
The UAE Red Crescent representative stated the visit aimed to assess the damage to the district's infrastructure and homes and to work on addressing them according to urgent, life-impacting priorities, indicating the Crescent's efforts to implement developmental projects to improve infrastructure and basic services, and commended the efforts of the Shibam Transitional Council in preparing a comprehensive database of the developmental projects the district requires.
The visit was also attended by the head of Thought and Guidance in the LLEB for the Shibam Transitional Council, Abdul-Moaz Salem Muhayson; the respected elder of the Al-Hazam area, Mr. Saeed Abdul-Wahid Maqram; and the deputy of Center "D" in the New Shibam and Al-Hazam areas, Manea Batbaq.
