President Al-Zubaidi Gets Briefed by Oil Minister on Efforts to Reoperate Aden Refinery and Secure Electricity Fuel

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Wednesday in the capital, Aden, with Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals.

President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by Dr. Al-Shammasi on key steps taken to secure funding for reopening Aden Refinery, the outcomes of coordination with local banks to provide $20 million, and securing required crude oil supplies to refine petroleum derivatives at 6,000 barrels per day during the initial operational phase.

The President also listened to a detailed briefing of ongoing coordination with the Chinese company for the refinery power plant to return to the capital, Aden, to complete installation work, boosting generation capacity and improving power service.

Minister Al-Shammasi further outlined ongoing arrangements to secure domestic crude oil quantities to boost electricity in the capital, Aden, and surrounding governorates, alleviating citizen suffering amid critical service conditions.

Minister Al-Shammasi, additionally, informed President Al-Zubaidi about talks with the Russian representative of the Yemeni-Russian Joint Committee, which focused on activating investment and trade, following the committee’s recent visit to the capital, Aden, ahead of its second scheduled meeting next September.
