President Al‑Zubaidi Highlights the Country's Need for Chinese Expertise to Rehabilitate Electricity Sector

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received today, Thursday, in the capital Aden, His Excellency Shào Chèng, Charge d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China to Yemen.

During the meeting, they reviewed possible mechanisms through which the Chinese government could assist in rehabilitating the electricity sector. In this respect, President Al‑Zubaidi underscored the urgent need for Chinese expertise to develop strategic solutions that would end the crisis in this vital sector.

The meeting also touched on the potential role that the Republic of China could play in supporting the government's efforts in developing ports and bolstering key sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, health, and education, as well as expanding the scope for capacity-building programs across various fields.

For his part, the Chinese Charge d’Affaires expressed his country’s readiness to increase support, broaden areas of joint cooperation, and enhance bilateral trade between the two friendly countries, and highlighted taking advantage of China’s decision to exempt the country's exports from customs duties in light of promising investment opportunities that our country has in agriculture and fisheries.

The meeting was attended by two members of the STC Presidium, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubbaji and Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi; the Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) supporting the PLC, Mr. Imad Mohammed; the office director of the Vice President of the PLC; and Mohammed Ali, Deputy Director of the STC Foreign Affairs Authority.
