President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), lauded today, Tuesday, the humanitarian and development efforts carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen.
The remarks came during His Excellency's meeting on Tuesday in the capital, Aden, with Mr. Mahmoud Abu Hassiba, head of the ICRC mission in Yemen, and the mission's political advisor, Baha'a Al-Sallami, where President Al-Zubaidi was briefed on the mission-oriented activities, field efforts, and humanitarian-driven interventions to assist people in conflict-affected areas, as well as the development interventions implemented by the ICRC in the capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates.
The President listened to a briefing from the head of the mission on key activities, including ongoing development projects, efforts to secure international funding for the project to address the water crisis in the capital, Aden, and support the completion of the Hassan Dam project in Abyan governorate.
The meeting also touched on the ICRC’s role in advancing and protecting human rights—particularly through providing basic healthcare services in detention centers, monitoring detainee conditions, and facilitating humanitarian dialogues among conflicting parties.
At the end of the meeting, President Al‑Zubaidi expressed the Council leadership's readiness to ease any obstacles facing the ICRC’s operations in the capital, Aden, and other liberated governorates, and full support for required facilitation to ensure the ICRC can effectively fulfill its humanitarian and development mission.
