President Al-Zubaidi Emphasizes Stricter Controls Over Public Revenue Collection and Transferring Resources to the Central Bank

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Saturday with Deputy Minister of Finance Hani Wahab.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a thorough explanation from the deputy minister about the fiscal position and the measures taken by the ministry to follow up on the implementation of the decisions binding the revenue-generating institutions to supply their resources to the government's public account at the Central Bank, thus contributing to providing the necessary liquidity to disburse public sector salaries.

In this context, the president underscored the Finance Ministry's obligation to exercise its full legal authority in regulating revenue operations and strict adherence to lawful collection procedures, elimination of illicit fees, and intensified oversight of entities failing to remit revenues to the central bank.

The meeting discussed the outcomes from the ministry's participation in the 12th edition of the Paris Club annual meeting, known as the Paris Forum, hosted by the French Ministry for Economy and Finance, and explored strategies to prevent unsustainable foreign debt accumulation and mitigate its financial ramifications amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
