President Al-Zubaidi Pays Visit to Socotra Archipelago University and Lauds Contributions to Academic Excellence

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), along with Eng. Ra'afat Al-Thaqali, governor of the Socotra Archipelago, and several ministers and senior STC leaders, conducted on Tuesday a visit to Socotra Archipelago University (SAU), where they were received by the university's chancellor, Dr. Ahmed Al-Jouna, and members of the SAU.

During the visit, President Al-Zubaidi and his accompanying delegation listened to a detailed briefing by Dr. Al-Jouna about the university's journey since its founding in 2021, the colleges, academic programs, male and female student enrollment statistics, and efforts to provide training and qualification courses for public sector employees.

The SAU chancellor also discussed the exerted efforts in providing training programs and qualification courses for government sector employees, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of local cadres in various fields. He pointed out that the generous support from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayid Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works has enabled the university to achieve tangible accomplishments in a short period of time.

Dr. Al-Jouna provided a detailed visual presentation outlining the university’s ambitious future plans. These include the development of state-of-the-art facilities and the establishment of new, well-equipped colleges offering a range of specialized programs to align with international academic standards. These initiatives aim to meet the aspirations of students while addressing the archipelago’s evolving developmental needs and to keep pace with global advancements and the future needs of the archipelago.

At the end of his tour, President Al-Zubaidi congratulated the residents of Socotra on this academic achievement, which enjoys the full support of the brothers in the United Arab Emirates, highlighting that this university represents a cornerstone for the future of the archipelago and lays the foundation for a new era centered on development and enlightenment.
