President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), paid a visit on Wednesday to inspect the progress of the construction works on the 53-MW solar power plant funded by the brotherly United Arab Emirates to support the generating capacity of the electricity of Shabwa, with clean and renewable energy. This visit took place during his tour of the project site, which spans 600 square meters northwest of the city of Ataq.
During the visit, President Al-Zubaidi, accompanied by Shabwa Governor Sheikh Awad bin Al-Wazir Al-Awlaqi, Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, a member of the STC's Presidium, Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) supporting the PLC, as well as Minister of Electricity, ministers of Civil Service, Transport, Planning and International Cooperation, Social Affairs, and Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, in addition to Sheikh Lahmar bin Ali Laswad, Head of the local leadership executive body (LLEB), received a detailed briefing from the engineers supervising the project on the project's components, which include the installation of 87,000 solar panels, a nighttime storage system, a conversion station, and a 19-kilometer-long high-voltage transmission line with a capacity of 33 kV. They were also updated on the progress achieved so far.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of maintaining the accelerated pace of work to ensure the project is completed on time and in accordance with the agreed technical specifications. His Excellency has lauded the significant humanitarian, fraternal, and developmental support provided by the United Arab Emirates, led by its President, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Shabwa Governorate and the liberated areas as a whole to improve the living conditions and public services for the local people.
