President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), reviewed the workflow at the Customs Authority and the security of the Free Zone in the capital, Aden. This took place during his meeting on Monday with Mr. Abdul-Hakeem Al-Qubati, Director of the Authority; Major General Mutahar Al-Shu'aibi, Director of Aden Security; Colonel Jamal Dayan, Director of Free Zone Security; and Mohsen Qahtan, Director General of Free Zone Customs.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a detailed briefing about the progress of work at the Customs Authority and the efforts being made to enhance customs performance and monitor incoming and outgoing goods to regulate commercial activity and prevent any illegal practices, in addition to the key challenges facing customs and identifying ways to overcome difficulties and ensure the smooth flow of customs processes, thereby contributing to strengthening the national economy.
President Al-Zubaidi also listened to a brief report on the security situation at customs checkpoints, which included the efforts being made by security services to control smuggling operations and combat any attempts to harm the local economy by introducing prohibited or non-compliant goods.
The meeting touched on the measures taken to address complaints from citizens and customs stakeholders. President Al-Zubaidi emphasized the need to listen to their demands and work towards finding effective solutions to ensure the smooth flow of customs operations and facilitate import and export activities, which would contribute to revitalizing economic activity and boosting the confidence of investors and businessmen.
At the end of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi underscored the need to ramp up efforts to tackle security and economic challenges while strengthening customs oversight, as such measures are crucial to maintaining stability and fostering a secure environment conducive to development and investment.
