President Al-Zubaidi Discusses Recent Humanitarian and Political Developments with US Ambassador

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today, Sunday, with HE Steven H. Fagin, U.S. Ambassador to Yemen.

The meeting discussed the latest humanitarian and political developments in the country amid the worsening economic crisis and the government's perceived failure to meet its responsibilities towards citizens, and in this regard, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the urgent need for the PLC and the government to assume the national responsibilities assigned to them, essentially providing basic services, regular paying of public sector salaries, and seeking urgent and sustainable solutions to activate the country's economic resources.

During their meeting, both sides underscored the critical importance of mobilizing regional and international support to bolster the PLC's efforts to address the dire economic situation and normalize the situation in the liberated governorates, highlighting the pressing need for genuine and comprehensive reforms to restructure the government and its institutions, including activating revenue-generating bodies, tightening fiscal policies, and reforming and strengthening oversight mechanisms to achieve much-needed economic stability.

The meeting was attended by a member of the STC's Presidium, Mr. Amr Al-Beidh, Special Representative of the President of the STC for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Imad Mohammed, director of the office of the Vice President of the PLC.
