President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Thursday evening with a number of social figures and youth leaders in the capital, Aden.
In the beginning of the meeting, which comes as part of the Ramadan evenings to meet with various segments of southern society, President Al-Zubaidi congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, referring to the special status that the capital Aden and its people enjoy as a pioneering cosmopolitan city known throughout the history of the South as a city of coexistence, love, and peace.
The President briefly reviewed the latest developments related to the political situation at both the local and regional levels in light of the ongoing Houthi terrorist attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. His excellency reiterated the seriousness of the repercussions of this escalation on food security and the livelihoods of our people, as well as its negative effects on the ports of the country.
In the context of his speech, President Al-Zubaidi touched on the economic situation and the difficulties facing the PLC and the government to revive the economy and improve public services in light of the cessation of exporting oil and gas, indicating that the leadership of the STC will do whatever is in its power to restore the bright face of Aden and restore its pioneering role in various fields.
President Al-Zubaidi then listened to a number of interventions by the attendees, through which they expressed the concerns, aspirations, and opinions of the residents of the capital on the various issues of concern to citizens in Aden, with a focus on the provision of basic services, regularly paid salaries, and the reform of the education system.
In the course of their interventions, the attendees praised the fraternal positions of the official brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who continue their unwavering support for our people, the last but not least of which is the UAE fuel grant for increasing the generating capacity of the power plants.
At the meeting, Mr. Moamen Al-Saqqaf, a member of the STC's Presidium and head of the Local Leadership Executive Body (LLEB) of the STC in the capital, Aden, spoke in a speech in which he affirmed that the LLEB in the capital, in the upcoming phase, will be keen to make the utmost efforts to carry out its duties in representing the people of the capital and their aspirations, indicating that the headship of the LLEB will soon launch an operations room to receive complaints of citizens and work to solve them in coordination with the local authority in the capital as per the directives of President Al-Zubaidi.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Assistant Political Commission assisting the Presidium of the STC and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit in the STC, gave a speech in which he gave a number of clarifications related to the political process and the status of the cause of the people of the South.
