President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), inaugurated today, Sunday, a number of marine crafts and gunboats belonging to the Naval Forces into service.
Upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Naval Forces in the capital, Aden, the president was received by Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Da'ari,the Minister of Defense, and Lieutenant General Abdullah Al-Nakhai, the Commander of the Naval Forces.
During the inauguration, President Al-Zubaidi asserted that this step is of great importance in helping the naval forces carry out their tasks, in light of the ongoing escalation in the territorial waters by the terrorist Houthi militias targeting international shipping lanes.
The President renewed his call to the Arab coalition forces and the international coalition, to support our naval forces in training and rehabilitation, to strengthen them with the capabilities to be an effective force in the international coalition against terrorism, and to protect maritime navigation.
In addition to that, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Da'ari, explained that the new pieces of the naval forces come within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to enhance the combat readiness of the naval forces and coastal defense, affirming that our naval forces have sufficient commanders and technical cadres that enable them to regain their leading role in protecting territorial waters and securing international shipping lanes efficiently and competently.
At the end of the inauguration, Lieutenant Generals Al-Da'ari and Al-Nakhai expressed their sincere thanks to President Al-Zubaidi for honoring the Ministry of Defense with this inauguration, as well as his continued support for the Ministry of Defense, the military establishment in general, and the Naval Forces in particular.
The inauguration event was attended by Major General Saleh Ali Hassan, Chief Joint Operations Staff, and Major General Mohammad Saleh Al-Shaeri, Commander of the Military Police.
