President Al-Zubaidi Orders Halt to all Construction Work on the University Campus Scheme and Take Appropriate Measures to Preserve It

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), has ordered a halt to all construction and newly developed work on the scheme of the university campus land in the capital, Aden.

This came while chairing on Wednesday a meeting that included the Minister of State, the Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, Dr. Al-Khader Laswar, Chancellor of the University of Aden, Mr. Ali Al-Gaadi, acting director of the Public Lands and Real Estate Authority (PLREA), Mr. Hassan Haid, director of the Free Zone in Aden, and Dr. Salah Al-Shoubji, Director-General of Al-Buraiqa district, and was devoted to addressing the problem of encroachment on university campus lands in Bir Ahmed and taking appropriate measures that would contribute to solving it.

During the meeting, the President underscored this, saying: “The university campus lands are a red line, and no one is allowed to encroach on them, and preserving them is our collective responsibility, as it is a public interest that concerns future generations.”

President Al-Zubaidi directed the PLREA to stop issuing any contracts on university campus schemes until the ownership claims therein are legally and judicially settled by final and conclusive rulings from
the Supreme Court.

In the same context, President Al-Zubaidi directed the local authority in Al-Buraiqa district, in coordination with the PLREA, to inventory random construction on the university campus and to take the appropriate measures to prevent any subsequent violations that may encroach on the campus master plan.

In another context, President Al-Zubaidi directed the director of the Free Zone to oblige investors, who have been granted lands for the purpose of real estate investment, to hand over lands and service sites to the local authorities in their affiliated districts to manage them according to their jurisdiction.

At the end of the meeting, the chancellor of the university extended thanks and appreciation to President Al-Zubaidi for holding this meeting with the aim of ending the problem of encroachment on campus lands, noting that this confirms his great interest in this high academic and scientific edifice and the future of generations.
