President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), confirmed the support of the STC for the appointed Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, to bring about real and tangible changes in the performance of state institutions, improve the reality of the deteriorating economy, and correct imbalances in ministries and government institutions.
While presiding over the regularly scheduled meeting of the Presidium today, Tuesday, in the presence of the STC’s ministers in the government and the heads of the auxiliary bodies of the Presidium, the President noted the need for all to stand by the government to conduct the tasks assigned to it in reviving the deteriorating economic situation and providing basic services to citizens, especially electricity and the regular payment of salaries, provided that they remain under monitoring and evaluation during the coming period.
In its meeting, the Presidium focused on the recent developments in the humanitarian situation in the governorates of the South in light of the continuing collapse in the local currency exchange rate and the oil-export cessation. In this regard, the Presidium affirmed that it will spare no effort to mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis on our people, calling on the PLC and the government to assume the responsibility entrusted to them in stopping the collapse of the currency, paying salaries, providing fuel for power plants, and enhancing the existing generating capacity to face the coming summer.
Furthermore, the Presidium stood before the latest political developments, both at the local and regional levels, and the outcomes of the political process led by the UN Special Envoy to end the conflict in the region in light of the continued Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
In addition to that, the Presidium reviewed the results of President Al-Zubaidi’s participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, in the middle of last month, lauding the positive results achieved by the President’s participation, his meetings with heads of government and representatives of participating countries, and the intensive discussions he held on the sidelines of the Forum.
In a separate context, the Presidium commended the level of coordination between the leadership of the STC and the official brothers in the Saudi-led coalition in various fields, reaffirming that the relations of the STC with the official brothers in the coalition countries are strong and governed by common interests and destiny.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium discussed a range of security and organizational topics and issues on the agenda and took the appropriate measures.
