President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with UN Envoy Efforts to Revive Peace and Political Process


President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received on Thursday the UN Special Envoy, Mr. Hans Grünberg.

The meeting discussed the efforts exerted by the international community and official brothers in the region to revive the path of peace, with a focus on ways to ease tensions in the country and the entire region, continuing efforts towards a ceasefire throughout the country, measures to improve living conditions, putting an end to the accelerating economic collapse, and providing suitable conditions for resuming the political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The President reaffirmed the support of the STC and the PLC for all efforts to bring peace, stressing that the priority at the present time requires devoting efforts to deter the Houthi aggression and dispel their threats on international shipping lanes, due to their grave danger to the country’s economy and food security, as well as to the economies of the region and the whole world.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, member of the STC's Presidium and Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) of the PLC, Mr. Amr Ali Al-Beidh, member of the STC's Presidium and the Special Representative of the President of the STC, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Auxiliary Political Commission of the STC, and Ms. April Longley Alley, special advisor to the UN envoy.
