President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), chaired on Wednesday a meeting of the Executive Office of the local authority in the capital, Aden.
In the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by a member of the STC's Presidium and head of the LLEB of the STC of the capital, Aden, Mr. Moamen Al-Saqqaf, and the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the capital, Aden, Mr. Badr Muawen, the President briefed those present on the latest developments related to the political process and the roadmap submitted by the UN special envoy, reaffirming the STC’s commitment to having a special negotiating framework for the cause of the people of the South in the political process.
In his speech, the President touched on the difficult conditions that the capital Aden is experiencing, like other governorates, due to the deteriorating economic situation, stressing the need for everyone to assume his or her responsibility and assigned tasks and to work in a team spirit to improve the living conditions of all citizens as per the possible resources available to them.
The President added, “We are fully aware of the difficulty of the situation, especially the economic aspect, but that does not exempt us from carrying out our tasks at all levels. Aden is the capital of all of us, and maintaining it and its institutions is everyone's responsibility.”
Furthermore, President Al-Zoubaidi highlighted the necessity of seeking and benefiting from all the young competencies and capabilities that the capital Aden abounds in various fields, empowering them, and helping them to assume responsibility, as they are the most important segment of society.
The President continued his speech, saying: “The youth of Aden had made great sacrifices in the various stages of the struggle, and they were at the front of the ranks in the battle to liberate their city, and their right to public employment must be fully obtained without any diminution.”
In addition to that, the President addressed the attendees, saying, "You should approach the citizens, touch on their worries and concerns, work to solve them, and halt any collection of illegal levies, whether to entities or persons who are not authorized to do so in accordance with the law and order."
At the end of his speech, the President stressed the importance of coordinating work between local authorities at the governorate and district levels and between the LLEB of the STC for the benefit of citizens and the public interest of the city, indicating that these meetings will periodically be held to determine what tasks have been accomplished.
The President was then briefed by deputies, directors of executive offices of the governorate, and directors of all districts on a range of topics and difficulties facing their work progress, in addition to a number of opinions and suggestions that can contribute to solving them, as the appropriate measures were taken in such regard.
