The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), in its meeting held on Thursday, chaired by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the STC, stood against the ongoing Houthi escalation against international shipping lanes.
The Presidium confirmed that the Houthi escalation in Bab al-Mandeb and the Red Sea directly affects the national and economic security of the South and undermines the chances for ceasing the war and efforts to bring about peace, and any talk about solutions in isolation from the ongoing escalation drains out the essence of peace.
In its meeting, which was attended by heads of auxiliary commissions and the vice chairman of the Council of Advisors, the Presidium reiterated the firm position of the STC in supporting the regional and international naval coalition aimed at safeguarding international maritime navigation on this key trade route for the region and the world.
Organizationally, the Presidium focused on a set of measures related to the work of the auxiliary commissions of the Presidium. In this respect, the Presidium reviewed the activity of the Women’s Commission through a detailed report submitted by the Head of the Commission, which included the work plan and the overall activities and programs that the commission implemented from June to October 2023. In addition to its internal and external participation and meetings with the team of the UN Special Envoy.
In the same context, the Presidium shed light on a detailed report by the Research and Decision-Making Support Center (RDSC), which studied ways to activate and organize the work of the executive bodies in the STC and mechanisms for strengthening the home front at the level of the whole South.
Furthermore, the Presidium reviewed the ongoing preparations for the convening of the House of Commons scheduled for the second of January. In this regard, the Presidium listened to a briefing by the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Vice Chairman of the Council of Advisors on the progress of arrangements for holding the upcoming meeting, its program, and the topics and issues that will be discussed.
To the end of its meeting, the Presidium discussed a variety of local and external topics and issues, in addition to a range of topics related to the work of the central and local bodies of the STC, and took the appropriate measures.
