In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
On the momentous occasion of the 56th anniversary of the first National Independence Day on November 30, 1967, we extend our congratulations to our people both at home and abroad, praying to Allah, the Almighty, to return this occasion while our people have achieved all their goals and aspirations in freedom and independence and are building their aspired federal state.
The great victory achieved on November 30, 1967, and the tremendous political and development achievements that followed within the framework of building the nascent state of the South that preserved the rights of all its people would not have been achieved without the precious sacrifices made by the finest heroes and martyrs.
While celebrating the anniversary of independence, we do remember with reverence the ultimate sacrifices of those who ascended as martyrs to enable us to reach this day, feeling the great responsibility that we have been shouldered to restore the lost independence, build the aspired southern homeland, and keep striving on the path of freedom in which our people and our armed forces have come a long way, and we only need more steadfastness and patience of purpose to reach the end of this path.
This stage, with its complexities and challenges, requires us all to strengthen our home front and intensify our external political activity in conjunction with field work to protect the gains that have been achieved.
We re-affirm our steadfastness in continuing on the path of freedom and independence and maintaining the fulfilled achievements and victories, in full devotion to the ultimate sacrifices of the martyrs, and in commitment to the irrevocable pledge we have made to ourselves and our people.
We call on the free world and the UN, which believe in the rights of peoples to self-determination, to support the aspirations of our people to restore and build their state to be a key factor in security and stability in the entire region, to fight terrorism, and to protect international shipping lanes from acts of piracy that target international trade lines in Bab al-Mandab, the Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea.
