President Al-Zubaidi Meets with Russian Charge d’affaires

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received today, Saturday, the Charge d’affaires of the Russian Federation to Yemen, Dr. Evgeny Kudrov.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments related to efforts to durably end the war and bring about peace in the country, as well as regional and international efforts aimed at launching a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations to end the conflict and restore stability to the country and the entire region.

In this respect, President Al-Zoubaidi reiterated the seriousness of the STC and the PLC in advancing efforts to end the war and bring peace, noting the importance of the Russian role in supporting regional and international efforts aimed at ending the humanitarian crisis that the country is witnessing due to war and political accumulations over the past three decades.

During the meeting, President Al-Zoubaidi reaffirmed that the PLC agreed on the main issues that will be included in the upcoming political process, at the forefront of which is the cause of the people of the South and its radical solution in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the South and their right to self-determination.

For his part, Dr. Kudrov affirmed Russia's support for all regional and international efforts aimed at bringing peace and restoring security and stability to the country and the region, in addition to his country's readiness to play a greater role in pushing these efforts to begin a comprehensive political process to ensure reaching a comprehesive and sustainable peace that establishes a conflict free region for prosperous future.

Furthermore, the Acting Russian Ambassador reiterated his government's support for the PLC and the government, and its readiness to provide more humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering that our people are experiencing as a result of the war.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Imad Mohammad, Office Director of the Vice-President of the PLC, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC, and from the Russian Embassy, Mr. Pavel Korolev and Ms. Julia Chesanova
