President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, her Excellency Abda Sharif Obi, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Yemen.
In the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zoubaidi welcomed Ambassador Abda Sharif, expressing his happiness at this meeting at the beginning of her diplomatic career as the ambassador of the United Kingdom to the country.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the dire humanitarian situation and the regional and international efforts and endeavours aimed at durably ending the war and starting a political path that addresses the pivotal roots of the conflict and establishes sustainable peace in the country and the entire region.
In this respect, they discussed the latest developments related to the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with international support to start a comprehensive political process under the umbrella of the United Nations.
In the meeting, President Al-Zoubaidi expressed his thanks and gratitude for the efforts exerted by the government of the United Kingdom to accelerate the efforts to durably end the war and bring about peace to the country and the region, noting the importance of incessant British support for the PLC in these circumstances to engage in a real political process, despite the persistence of the Houthi militias in their intransigence and rejection of all efforts aimed at ending the war and restoring stability to the region.
For her part, Ambassador Abda Sharif reiterated the support of her country's government for the PLC and the government in their efforts to alleviate the deteriorating economic and humanitarian situation and carry out genuine reforms in the legitimate government institutions, and highlighted the importance of the unity and cohesiveness of the PLC for the success of the peace process in the country.
