President Al-Zubaidi: No Peace Without the Presence of the Cause of Our People in the South at All Phases of Negotiations and the Peace Process

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), reaffirmed that the peace process in Yemen will not succeed unless the cause of the people of the South is present in any political process from its beginning, which is launching with negotiations to end the war and confidence-building measures.

It took place in a meeting his excellency held, along with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), with the international triumvirate; Britain, America, and France, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

President Al-Zubaidi reiterated that peace in Yemen relies on durable resolution of the cause of the South, as it is the central issue in the ongoing conflict that has been going on for decades, noting that he and his colleagues in the PLC agreed to develop a special framework for it, ensuring its presence at the forefront of the political process.

During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the political process in light of the regional and international efforts that have been made to end the war and bring about peace in the country.

For their part, the representatives of the three countries reiterated their countries’ support for the endeavours and efforts of the countries of the region and the UN aimed at bringing about peace in Yemen, backing both the PLC and the power-sharing government to move forward in fulfilling the assigned national tasks.
