President Al-Zubaidi: We are committed to going ahead with efforts to combat terrorism and secure international shipping lanes

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), reiterated the commitment of the leadership of the STC and the Southern Armed Forces to go ahead with efforts to combat terrorist groups, foremost of which are the Houthi militia, al-Qaeda, and ISIS.

In the intervention that President Al-Zubaidi made at the conference held by the American Center for South Yemen Studies (ACSYS) in Washington, D.C., on the eighth anniversary of the liberation of the capital, Aden, he highlighted that the southerners had been sacrificing trains of martyrs and wounded for achieving victory in this fateful battle, which the southern armed forces are fighting as a pivotal partner for the regional and international community in the field of combating terrorism and will definitely continue their national tasks in securing international shipping lanes in the al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden and preserving international interests away from the threat of terrorist and extremist groups.

The president pledged to proceed with fulfilling the national entitlements of the people of the South until the attainment of full independence and to build a modern democratic state that preserves the rights of all, respects the rights of neighbouring countries, and adheres to the principles of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In the context of his intervention, the president remembered on this momentous occasion with great honour and the highest recognition the blessed martyrs who ultimately gave their precious souls to liberate the capital, Aden, and the South, embodying with their pure blood the heading of the audacious victory.

Furthermore, President Al-Zubaidi highly appreciated the great role of the brothers in the Arab coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in liberating the capital, Aden, and the subsequent victories that culminated in the complete liberation of the governorates of the South, together with the comprehensive and full securing of the top important international shipping lanes in al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden, and combating terrorism and extremism.

At the end of his intervention, President Al-Zubaidi praised the keenness of the ACSYS to hold this conference and shed light on this dear occasion for our people. The president also thanked the participating researchers and wished them all success.
