President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Deputy Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Wednesday with H.E. Mr. Ahmed Farouk, the non-resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Yemen.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the Egyptian ambassador, expressing his congratulations and all the people of the South, to the Egyptian leadership and the brotherly Egyptian people on the occasion of the forty-ninth anniversary of the victory of the sixth of October 1973, affirming that this historic day will remain immortal not only in the conscience and souls of the Egyptian people, but also the entire Arab nation.
The meeting reviewed the strong brotherly relations that have existed between our countries, the pivotal role of Egypt in supporting peace efforts, the prospects for joint cooperation in security aspects, and ways that can contribute to enhance joint-action.
The meeting, too, discussed the latest political and military developments in our country in light of the intransigence of the Houthi militias and its continuous declining of the international efforts aimed at extending the truce, ceasing the war and establishing peace.
In this respect, President Al-Zubaidi stressed that all regional and international initiatives to bring peace to our country clashed with the arrogance of the Houthi militias, at a time when the PLC has made all concessions to assure the success of the endeavours of the UN Special Envoy, and the international community.
In his speech with the Egyptian ambassador, the President stressed the importance of the international community adopting a firm stance towards the Houthi militia’s rebellion, its declining of all calls for peace, and its newly launched military escalation, highlighting that the extortion practiced by the militias to obtain political gains is no longer acceptable, and any escalation will be met with a decisive action.
The meeting touched on the importance of Egyptian support for the PLC and the power-sharing government, in the fields of promoting logistical aspects, qualifying and training of the security and civil personnel and employees, enabling the government to boost its performance to implement the national tasks.
For his part, Ambassador Farouk affirmed his country's commitment to support efforts of the truce extension and bring peace to our country, and to back the PLC and assist the power-sharing government to properly assume their responsibilities in maintaining security and stability, and reviving the economic situation.
