President Al-Zubaidi Lauds Historical Relations Between our Country and the People's Republic of China

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Deputy Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has lauded the historical relations that have existed between our country and the People's Republic of China.

It took place in a meeting, on Tuesday morning with His Excellency Mr. Shao Zhang, the acting ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Yemen, as President Al-Zubaidi affirmed that our country has a special bilateral relationship with the Republic of China, noting that the leadership of the STC and the PLC looking forward to promoting and strengthening these relations at various levels.

In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi lauded China's active role in pushing peace efforts in our country, its relief role to alleviate human suffering in the liberated governorates, and its unlimited support for development in the small and medium investment industries, and in the field of emergency interventions to rehabilitate the infrastructure that was destroyed by the war.

President Al-Zubaidi, too, highlighted the importance of the presence of major Chinese investments in the capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates as the conditions have become appropriate to start major investment projects in the oil, gas, minerals, electricity, and energy and other vital sectors.

For his part, the Chinese Chargé d'Affairs stressed the geostrategic importance of the capital, Aden, and the coastal governorates in the South to play a pivotal role as major stations for the "Silk Road", which comes within the "Belt and Road" initiative, which is expected to connect the countries of South and East Asia and North Africa with other European countries through a networklist of ports.

The Chargé d'Affairs of the Chinese Ambassador reiterated his country's support for concerted efforts to bring peace to our country, and the endeavours of the UN Special Envoy to reach a comprehensive political settlement that establishes sustainable peace in the entire region, expressing his regret for the Houthi militia's failure to respond to efforts to renew the UN truce. In the same context, he has lauded the positive position of the PLC.

The Ambassador Zhang noted that the Chinese government will work in the near future to enhance bilateral cooperation with the PLC and the power-sharing government by raising the rate of humanitarian aid and expanding the frameworks of trade and cultural exchange with our country, which will contribute to reviving the economic situation and providing opportunities for young people to engage in building state institutions.
