President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Sunday, at his office, in the STC's headquarters, in the capital Aden, met with Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals.
The president gets briefed by the minister Al-Shamasi on the work progress in the Ministry, its exerted efforts to maintain stable-supply status to the local market, regulate the process of importing petroleum-based products and allocate fuel for power plants operating with diesel and mazout, to ensure sufficiency of provided quantities and make sure of the continuous operation in the power plants with no cutting off the electricity supply.
The president listened from the minister to a brief explanation on activities of the minsitry to boost investment opportunities in gas sector in Hadhramout and Shabwa governorates, and future plans to expand its schemes in the field of geological survey, which would contribute to supporting exploration, drilling operations, site-specific determination of the reserved-resources and level of the availabe economic quantities.
The president lauded the immense efforts made by the Ministry of Oil to maintain stable-supply status and preventing bottlenecks in the local market, at the same time, he stressed the importance of redoubling efforts, developing and upgrading the working mechanisms, intensifying supervision processes, and coordinating with the concerned authorities to conduct studies and provide visions for strategic projects that could be applied on the ground to ensure the recovery of the production activities, reaching the full capacity in the oil sectors, and have the advantage of the economic resources up to the mark to be positively reflected on the service being provided to citizens.
President Al-Zubaidi Highlighted significancy of being open to foreign capital and providing an attractive investment opportunities in the field of exploration and mining prospecting for oil and minerals, and to benefit from the expertises in upgrading production processes, developing age-old sectors, and generating electricity by using the natural gas.
For his part, Dr. Al-Shamasi offered his thanks and appreciation to the president Al-Zubaidi for his special care over the oil and minerals sector, and his constant keenness to ease difficulties encountering the work of the ministry, affirming that all employees of this sector will spare no effort to advance these economic and service sectors.
