President Al-Zubaidi Receives Delegation from European Institute of Peace

The president Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Saturday, at his office, in the STC's headquarters, in the capital Aden, received a delegation from the European Institute of Peace (EIP) headed by Mr. Jamie Pleydell-Bouverie, a Senior Programme Officer at the EIP, and Mr. Thanos Petouris, regional Advisor at the EIP to the Yemen team.

In the meeting, the president Al-Zubaidi was briefed on the efforts made by the EIP in assisting the peace process in the region in general, and in the South in particular, stressed the importance of the Institute's assistance for the Southern National Dialogue led by the STC to achieve the southern cohesiveness.

The president reiterated the support of the STC for the exerted efforts of the sepcial envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the American special envoy to reach a sustainable solution to the conflict in the region, highlighted that peace will only be achieved in the region by granting people of the South the right of self-determination to fulfil their aspirations.

In turn, the Senior Programme Officer at the EIP, Mr. Pleydell-Bouverie expressed his happiness at visiting the capital Aden, and meeting the president Al-Zubaidi, affirming that the EIP is well aware of proportions of the STC and its impact on the ground, and is keen to work with the STC's leadership; to assist its efforts to achieve the southern cohesiveness and unifying visions to reach Southern consensus fulfilling the aspirations of people of the South.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Lotfi Shatara, member of Presidency of the STC, deputy chairman of the Assembly, and Mr. Ra'afat Saleh Abdul-Hamid, in charge of Organizations section in the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC.
