The President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), the Supreme Commander of the Southern Forces, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, discussed with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Saudi Arabia Mr.Thomas Lid Ball, the bilateral relations and opportunities of joint cooperation with the Kingdom of Norway.
In the meeting, the president Al-Zubaidi praised the humanitarian role played by the Kingdom of Norway in our country since the outbreak of the war, stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation at various levels.
The president assured keenness of the Southern Transitional Council leadership to strengthen the bilateral relations and enhance joint cooperation with the government of Norway, as the leadership looks forward to a broader Norwegian role in the fields of development, investment, reconstruction, and support for livelihood in our country, brought up that our country provides attractive investment opportunities for Norwegian capital in government and private sectors.
He stressed the importance of Norwegian assist in the humanitarian aid and in support development efforts, reviving economy, building capacity of government sector employees, training youth and empowering women.
For his part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway expressed his happiness in meeting the president Al-Zubaidi, congratulated him on the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council and on being selected as one of its members, and on the tangible success achieved by Riyadh consultations, which concluded its programme today.
The Norwegian ambassador affirmed his country's firm and continuous support of the efforts to bring peace in Yemen sponsored by the United Nations and the Cooperation Council for the States of the Arab Gulf (GCC), considering the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council as an advanced step on track to a comprehensive solution.
The Ambassador reiterated his country's support for the new leadership, expressed his aspiration to work side-by-side with the Presidential Leadership Council, to serve the country, end the humanitarian crisis caused by the war, and contribute to reaching a constant peace that lays the foundations of a secure and prosperous future.
Mr. Thomas Ball also expressed his country's readiness to provide the necessary support to build capacities of youth and women enabling them to contribute to build State Institutions, accelerate development and revive the collapsed economy.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed al-Ghaithi, head of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC, Mr. Saleh Ghaleb al-Quaiti, representative of the GDFA, Mr. Imad Mohammed, deputy of office director for the President of STC, and Mr. Ali al-Hadayani, Press and Media Secretary to the President of the STC.
