Upon receiving Egyptian ambassador.. President Al-Zubaidi stresses importance of integrating roles in combating terrorism and securing international navigation

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, met on Wednesday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Yemen, Mr. Ahmed Farouk.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of integrating roles and strengthening joint cooperation strategies in the field of combating terrorism and securing international shipping lines in the Gulf of Aden, Bab al-Mandab, and the Red Sea.

In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the fraternal relations between our people in the South and the Arab Republic of Egypt and the common historical Arab stances between the two peoples in the past and present, praising the Egyptian diplomacy and its pivotal role in establishing security and stability in the region, stressing the importance of Egypt’s role in achieving any political settlement to end the conflict in Yemen, and working for its reconstruction.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of the joint Arab action undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt side by side with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, hoping that the next phase would witness more cooperation and integration to maintain security and stability, and strengthen deterrence strategies, and confront hostile forces and address political issues that a number of countries in the region suffer from, foremost of which is the file of the current crisis in Yemen, in order to meet the aspirations of our people in the South and enable them to determine their political future.

For his part, the Egyptian ambassador expressed his happiness at meeting President Al-Zubaidi, expressing the Egyptian leadership’s support for the efforts to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement and the initiatives to end the conflict, bring peace and restore security and stability to Yemen, stressing that the Egyptian leadership will spare no effort in providing a helping hand to reach a comprehensive peace process that stops the war, and paves the way for the return of security and stability to Yemen and the region.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed El-Erian, head of the political file at the Egyptian Embassy in Yemen, and Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, head of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs in the Southern Transitional Council, and Anis Al-Sharafi, head of the Political Affairs and Planning Department in the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs in the Council.
