President Al-Zubaidi receives the UN envoy and stresses the need to stop economic collapse
The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, received, in his office in the capital, Aden, on Thursday, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg, on his second visit to Aden the capital.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi discussed with the UN envoy the latest political, economic, and military developments in the South and Yemen, and the efforts made to push towards a comprehensive peace process.
In his talks with the UN envoy, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to take urgent measures to stop the economic collapse that threatens our country with a complete collapse in light of the insistence of some parties to weaken the power-sharing government, and not to enable it to bring about fundamental reforms that aim at stopping the economic and living collapse, which may push the situation to get out of control. .
President Al-Zubaidi reiterated the importance of speeding up the implementation of the economic part of the Riyadh Agreement to address the economic crisis and stop the collapse of the local currency exchange rate, stressing that the slowdown in taking pivotal measures in this direction will exacerbate the situation, and push it towards the unknown.
President Al-Zubaidi also reiterated his support for the efforts of the UN envoy towards a comprehensive negotiating process that reflects the reality of the parties on the ground, and the national issues and the real causes of the conflict, in the forefront of which is the issue of the people of the South that is shouldered by the Southern Transitional Council.
For his part, the UN envoy expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Southern Transitional Council and its positions in supporting the efforts to stop the war and to establish peace.
