The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, met today, Wednesday, with the head of the executive body of the local leadership of the council in Abyan governorate, Mr. Mohammad Ahmed Al-Shaqi.
During his meeting with Al-Shaqi, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a full explanation of the latest developments in the general situation in Abyan, and the challenges facing the work of the local leadership in the governorate, foremost of which are the attempts to change demographic structure that Delta Abyan districts are exposed to through the ownership and sale of vast areas of the delta lands to the displaced, in a systematic effort to resettle them, in order to bring about a demographic change in the governorate.
President Al-Zubaidi expressed the rejection of the Council's leadership to those schemes in which hostile parties are behind them, and are trying to use the humanitarian aspect to achieve dangerous political goals.
President Al-Zubaidi directed the local leadership of the Transitional Council in the governorate to play its role towards the attempts that the Delta districts are facing from attempts to change their demographics and to make more efforts to put an end to these attempts and curb them, stressing the importance of the international organizations concerned with displacement carrying out their humanitarian duties towards the displaced, foremost of which is the construction of organized displacement camps for them, and safeguarding this humanitarian duty by taking it as an entry point for implementing political agendas to disrupt the demographic structure of Abyan Delta areas and their social fabric.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit.
