President Al-Zubaidi Gets Briefed on Public Health Situation in the Capital Aden and Liberated Governorates

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met with the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassem Mohammed Buhaibeh, and Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Population Sector.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by the Health Minister on the overall health conditions in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate, in light of the minister's recent field visit to the governorate and its resulting assessment of the health sector's reality. The President stressed the need of giving special attention to the public hospital in the archipelago and working to improve the level of medical service provided to residents.

The meeting also reviewed the conditions of public hospitals in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the liberated governorates, as well as the health interventions implemented by international partners in the health sector, including the plan being worked on by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to rehabilitate the Al-Sadaqa Hospital and the Al-Jumuriya Hospital in the capital, Aden.

The meeting discussed the importance of localizing the pharmaceutical industry in the country due to its pivotal role in strengthening medicine security, reducing reliance on imports, and improving the availability of essential medicines, particularly in light of the current challenges facing the health sector.
