The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Tuesday, at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Abdul Rahman Jalal Shaher, Member of the STC Presidium and General Secretary of the Secretariat.
The meeting discussed a report from the political body focusing on local, regional, and international developments related to the cause of the people of the South, including key efforts of the Transitional Council and their outcomes in the track of economic and administrative reforms, in addition to the escalating Houthi attacks and the operations of terrorist organizations and cells targeting the governorates of the South and threatening security and stability in the region.
In its meeting, the Secretariat reaffirmed that salaries of public sector employees and basic services such as (electricity, water, communications, education, and health) are a right of the people of the South that must be fully obtained and that the government must commit to providing them.
During the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Al-Shaqqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Governorate Affairs and University Coordinating Bodies, provided a comprehensive evaluative briefing on the most prominent tasks and programs implemented by the Presidential Guidance and Monitoring Teams in the governorates of the South since the start of their work, regarding enhancing the Council's fieldwork in line with the requirements of the current phase.
The meeting reviewed the report submitted by the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Body regarding the violations against the people of the South during the third quarter of the current year, 2025, as a result of the frequent attacks launched by the Houthi militia and extremist terrorist groups against civilians and military personnel in the governorates of the South.
The meeting also touched upon the weekly activity report on the tasks of the Secretariat's bodies and the executive bodies in the governorates, which were carried out during the past week, in addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting after incorporating the raised remarks.
