President Al-Zubaidi Discusses Prospects of Economic Cooperation and Investment Opportunities with Russian Deputy Prime Minister

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Wednesday evening as part of his visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who is responsible for energy and economic affairs.

The two sides discussed the latest economic developments, ways to support efforts for economic stability and the provision of services in the country, efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure, the importance of continuing the work of the joint governmental committee concerned with economic and investment affairs with the Russian Federation, and ways to activate communication channels between the relevant institutions in the two countries.

The meeting also reviewed prospects for joint cooperation in the energy, oil, agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure sectors, which would contribute to supporting sustainable development and open new horizons for Russian investments in the South and the liberated governorates.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed that achieving economic stability and providing vital services for our people are top priorities for the STC and noted that investment opportunities in the South are promising and that the transitional council is open to partnerships with various stakeholders and specialized companies to serve the interests of our people and open up prospects for comprehensive development.

For his part, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his country's appreciation for the efforts made by the STC President and PLC Vice Chairman in strengthening bilateral relations, and affirmed Moscow's keenness to expand the scope of economic and investment cooperation and to support development projects in our country.

It is worth mentioning that this meeting follows the discussions President Al-Zubaidi held yesterday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, which focused on the latest developments in the political situation in our country and the region, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields.
