President Al-Zubaidi Meets with Headship of the General Federation of South Workers Unions

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Saturday evening with the headship of the General Federation of South Workers Unions (GFSWU).

In the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the STC, Fadhl Al-Gaadi, a number of members of the Presidium, ministers in the government, and heads of auxiliary bodies of the STC, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the representatives of the GFSWU, congratulating them on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, appreciating the efforts of the Federation to defend the rights and interests of their members, and participating in correcting imbalances in government institutions, reforming their conditions, and improving their work.

In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the latest developments in the political scene in the country and the region and the major implications resulting from the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait and its negative effects on the food security of our people and their economic resources, stressing the importance of the role of unions in clarifying the fundamental repercussions of these terrorist acts on the daily lives of civilians.

President Al-Zubaidi highlighted promoting elevating the Federation's work and enhancing the presence of unions in the South to support the rights of their members and convey their concerns, referring to the importance of coordination between unions and government institutions, especially the ministries within the scope of jurisdiction.

President Al-Zubaidi listened to the head and representatives of the federation about the overall difficulties facing the work of unions, the suffering of their members in light of the difficult economic conditions the country is experiencing as a result of the dire humanitarian crisis caused by the war and the cessation of exporting oil and gas, and possible ways to alleviate such difficulties.
