President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received on Wednesday the Socotra Governorate delegation participating in the founding meeting of the House of Commons from members of the National Assembly and the Council of Advisors.
In the beginning of the meeting, the President praised the active presence of Socotra representatives in the founding meeting of the House of Commons, the first session of the National Assembly for the year 2024, and the founding meeting of the Advisory Council, stressing that this presence reflects the great keenness of the people of Socotra to contribute to making decisions related to the future of the south.
President Al-Zubaidi praised the security and stability in the Socotra Archipelago, pointing out that this is a natural product of the interconnectedness, alignment, and cohesiveness between the various components of Socotra society, urging those present to further solidarity and openness to all in spite of various orientations and to be a help and support to the local authority in a way that enhances the stability in the governorate and preserves the gains achieved due to the sacrifices made by the people of the archipelago by the members of the military and security institutions.
The President listened to a detailed explanation from the attendees about the situation of the governorate in various fields, confirming that all the needs and issues of the people of the archipelago are of interest to the leadership of the council, and they will work to solve them either through the council's competent bodies, committees, and departments, or concerned government authorities.
The attendees expressed their deep thanks and gratitude for the President’s interest in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate and his tireless efforts to provide the needs of the people of the governorate and resolve their issues, affirming that Socotra was and will remain part and parcel of the South, will not deviate from the southern consensus, and will be with the leadership of the STC until the full aspirations of the people of the South are achieved.
