President Al-Zubaidi Meets with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), along with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the PLC, met today, Wednesday, in New York City, USA, with Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

During the meeting, they reviewed the endeavours and efforts made by the international community and the brothers in the region to durably end the war and bring about peace to the country and the entire region, in addition to the latest developments related to those efforts and the ongoing arrangements to launch a comprehensive and inclusive political process under the auspices of the UN that addresses all pivotal issues with the participation of all active actors to ensure a just and sustainable peace.

The meeting touched on the economic and humanitarian situation and the role that the League of Arab States could play to enhance the support provided by our official brothers in this aspect.

The Chairman of the PLC and his Vice-Chairman extended their thanks to the League of Arab States for its role in supporting the PLC and the government to assume the entrusted responsibilities, expressing their hope that the League will play a greater role in the upcoming period to help our country get out of its dire economic and humanitarian crisis and strengthen the efforts exerted by the entire region and the world to bring about peace.

For his part, Dr. Aboul Gheit reiterated the position of the Arab League in support of the PLC, as well as its backing for all efforts that would end the war and establish a just and sustainable peace in the country and the entire region.
