Major General Bin Brik meets country director of Geneva Call office

Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, met on Wednesday, in his office at the assembly’s headquarters, with Ms. Maryam Ahmed Ismail, the country director of the Geneva Call office in Yemen.

In the meeting, which included lawyer Niran Sooki, member of the Presidency and Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly, Major General Bin Brik welcomed Ms. Maryam Ahmed, and listened from her to a brief explanation of the activity and work of the humanitarian organization specialized in international humanitarian law, and the protection of citizens from armed conflicts.

Major General Ahmed Saeed stressed the close relationship between the Southern Transitional Council and Geneva Call, praising the humanitarian role it played in protecting citizens from armed conflicts throughout its period of operation in the south, noting that the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council worked hard to overcome the difficulties in front of the international and regional organizations.

 The meeting discussed a number of issues related to training and rehabilitation of the target parties in the organization's work program to enhance the protection of civilians during the conflict, and how to continue and apply it on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Major General Ali Hussein Al-Awlaki, Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee of the Southern Transitional Council, Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan Hussein, Head of the Security Department of the Southern Transitional Council, and the coordinators of civil society organizations in the National Assembly, Raqiah Al-Saqqaf and Fatima Al-Aqel, and Ahmed Qassem, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Assembly.
