Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, on Sunday, presided over an extended meeting, included the heads of the committees in the National Assembly and the heads and members of the departments of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, in the presence of Major General Salem Abdullah al-Socotri, Assistant Secretary-General, and Dr. Abdul Nasser Al-Wali, member of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, and Major General Saif Saleh Al-Dhalee, Deputy Chief of Staff for Technical Affairs.

In the meeting, Major General Ben Brik welcomed the attendance on the first day that the south would be under the administration of the southerners and the Southern Transitional Council.

Major General Ben Brik briefed those present on the motives of the Transitional Council’s decision to Self-Administrate the South, and the challenges facing the people of the South to achieve their aspirations and ambitions, and the requirements for the current stage.

The Chairman of the National Assembly pointed out that the decision of the Presidency of the Transitional Council for the Self-Administration of the South has not come from nothing, but come after many opportunities provided by the Transitional Council to the brothers in the Coalition to convince the so-called legitimacy, who looted power and victory in the south and north, to reform themselves and their institutions and to move forward in implementing the Riyadh Agreement.

He added: "We were closely monitoring the work of what is called legitimacy and the process of reforming and correcting its mistakes, but the hidden and public conflicts taking place within the wings and poles of legitimacy itself appeared to be self and partisan interests at the expense of the people of the South and their wealth and capabilities, and even at the expense of the citizens of the North and their suffering."

Maj. Gen. Ben Brik listed a number of plans and scenarios designed to bring down Aden and the south and to re-occupy it, one of which was the policy of torturing people with services and salaries, narrowing lives and provoking regionalism.

Maj. Gen. Ben Brik asserted that the Transitional Council was able with great wisdom and ability to confront these plans and thwart them, stressing that the Transitional Council and with its all honorable and sincere people will give an honorable model in administration, civilization and advancement that serves the people of the South and their aspirations, and restores the citizen’s value.
