Al-Halimi Confirms to the European Institute of Peace that Just Solution to the Southern Cause is The Only Way to Bring About Lasting Peace

 

  Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Murad Al-Halimi met in London on Thursday with Mr. Evan Tyner* from the European Institute of Peace (EIP), as part of a series of activities and meetings, conducted by Al-Halimi and a number of STC officials in the capitals of   international decision-making countries.

At the meeting, Al-Halimi presented an additional glimpse into the Southern cause and its political representative, the Southern Transitional Council .He also presented its vision on the positive solution for the Yemeni file in general and for the Southern issue in particular, as its solution is the right step to find a sustainable peace in Yemen and the region in general.

Al-Halimi reviewed the situation in the Southern arena and the recent incidents in Aden, making it clear that that the government is working to create new conflict centers, adding that the Transitional Council proved to the Arab Coalition and the international community the government's failure to perform its duties, its corruption, its inability to provide services and the miss use of public funds. He confirmed that what would contribute to the success of the mission of the Special Envoy and ensure that no additional problems and conflict centers are created is replacing the corrupt government with a competent one that takes into consideration the current stage requirements.

For his part, Evan Tyner confirmed that the European Institute of Peace is concerned with the situation in the South and its support for the participation of the Southern Transition Council, in the upcoming talks on the political settlement in Yemen and for the success of the tasks of the new UN envoy to the country. He also stressed the importance of an active engagement of the embassies and international organizations in the South to convey the closely true picture of the situation.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed upon creating continuous communication channels and considering a number of proposals.

Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Murad Al-Halimi issued a declaration at the close of the meeting to the official website of the Council in which he promised the people in the South that their struggles and sacrifices would be reaped very soon and the political victories would continue to achieve the Southerners' will and their right to self-determination.
