President Al-Zubaidi honors the southern writer Ahmed Mahfouz Omar

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, honored on Wednesday, in the capital, Aden, the great southern writer and storyteller Ahmed Mahfouz Omar.

During the honoring, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his pride and honor in Mr. Ahmed Mahfouz Omar, and his admiration in the impressive record of him.

President Al-Zubaidi indicated that this honor comes in appreciation of the great role of Ahmed Mahfouz in the literary and cultural movement in the South.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed that the efforts and creations of southern writers, literateurs, and intellectuals from the first generation were, and still are, a source of pride for all the people of the South, pointing to the importance of embodying these creations on the ground.

President Al-Zubaidi considered that culture and literature are the main pillar of the civilization of the homelands, which is what must be worked on in the South until achieving the supreme goal of restoring the state of the South with full sovereignty over its entire borders before May 21, 1990.

President Al-Zubaidi noted that the Southern Transitional Council pays great attention to all southern intellectuals, literateurs, and writers, who were marginalized and excluded, after May 21, 1990, stressing that the leadership of the Council will do everything in its power to provide care to the writers and intellectuals for their literary and cultural efforts in the South, and to get them out of the difficult conditions they have reached due to the practices of the regime of Sana'a deliberately against them.

For his part, the southern writer and storyteller Ahmed Mahfouz Omar expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Al-Zubaidi, for this generous gesture, considering this honor of value, and great significance in itself, and as great motivation for all southern intellectuals, literateurs, and writers that there are people who appreciate their efforts.

Mahfouz expressed his pride in the attitude of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, and his striving role and sponsorship of literature in the South.

Mahfouz Omar previewed his suffering, marginalization and exclusion after the announcement of Yemeni unity, as well as the systematic and deliberate practices he was exposed to, and a large number of southern intellectuals and writers too after the unity.

At the end of the honoring, the southern writer and storyteller Ahmed Mahfouz Omar presented a book of his works to the President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.

The southern writer and storyteller Ahmed Mahfouz Omar is considered a great narrative value in the history of contemporary literature in the South, and he chaired the work of the founding conference of the Union of Writers and Literati of the South on November 28, 2018.
