President Al-Zubaidi Pays Visit to Abyan Governorate and Lays Foundation Stone for UAE-Funded 30-Megawatt Solar Power Plant Project

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), conducted a visit to Abyan Governorate today, Wednesday, where his Excellency laid the foundation stone for a 30-megawatt solar power plant project, funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In remarks delivered during the inauguration event, attended by Minister of Electricity and Energy Eng. Mane'a Bin Yameen, Abyan Governor Major General Abubakr Hussein Salem, and Mohamed Al-Hilali, the representative of the Emirati company "Global South Utilities" implementing the energy projects provided by the UAE, President Al-Zubaidi confirmed that the solar power plant project is part of an integrated plan for the development of Abyan Governorate to support stability, promote sustainable development, and provide clean and reliable energy sources that contribute to meeting the needs of citizens and boosting economic activity.

The President expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the UAE, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for the unlimited support it provides in various fields, praising the humanitarian and developmental role undertaken by the UAE in supporting the path of construction and development.

Subsequently, President Al-Zubaidi, accompanied by the Governor of Abyan Governorate, Maj. Gen. Abubakr Hussein, and Dr. Al-Khidr Al-Saeedi, a member of the STC Presidium, toured several of the government institutions in the governorate, including the branch of the Central Bank, and was briefed on the workflow and performance levels.

The President listened to a detailed explanation from the branch manager, Hussein Mahdi Abdullah, about the nature of the banking operations and services provided by the bank, the challenges it faces, and ways to advance its performance.

During the visit to the governorate, President Al-Zubaidi inspected Abyan University and met with the University Chancellor, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Maisari, and a number of college deans and faculty members, and during the tour of the university campus, the President was briefed on the progress of the educational process in the university's colleges, their needs, and the future plans the university leadership is working on to develop educational infrastructure.
